However, what captured me in each children’s book of this collection was the emphasis on the emotions and feelings of the people. I did not expect to like the series, as I’m not such a big fan of ‘prairie days’ literature. There is a new element in every book, expanding our experience of family, acceptance, and rural life. Each book is complete, yet you know there is more to learn about the family that lives on the prairie. It’s impossible not to read the each children’s book in this timeless series. They followed her, shuffling and scratching primly in the dirt. She clucked back to them and fed them grain.
